1986-1991 Not just fast, but fast at falling apart. Bolting a Garrett T2 blower onto Renault’s geriatric 1.4-litre Cleon pushrod unit before dropping it in Michel Boue’s dinky Renault 5 created a fast but fragile 86kW 205 GTi rival. Laggier than waiting for Vtec to kick in. Engine 1 397cc 8v 4-cyl, 86kW @ 5 750rpm, 164Nm @ 3 000rpm Transmission 5-speed manual Performance 7.1sec 0-100kph, 201kph.

The (not yet sold) Tesla S CLAIMS 300 miles, but don't forget that divrers of the Tesla are getting ~170, far short of the claimed 245. It gets worse: The Nissan Leaf has a hard time doing 90 miles, and the Chevrolet Volt can only do 40 (without the gas engine) on it's best day. But it's not so much the range that's terrible, it's the recharging time: 12+ hours from a standard outlet. That means driving 200 miles would take ~2 DAYS in a Leaf, compared to ~2 HOURS in a normal car.
